Sunl go kart

Postby tfunster » Fri Jan 18, 2008 12:27 pm

Hi:

I have a Sunl 90cc go kart and the engine will not stay running without the choke being engaged. I tried adjusting the air screw at the advice of the seller to no avail. It is getting gas O.K. and will run but no unless you feather the pedal and it cuts out at mid to high rpms. Is there a troubleshooting guide or carb adjustment guide out there for this?

thanks

Tom

If you can return it for a refund....do it ASAP. Those SunL things are really really bad.

Id try to pull the carb first, make sure all the jets are clear, and put in a new plug.

We use a Champion Z9Y in the 110 SunL's

So it wont stay running w/o feathering the throttle or keeping the choke out, and when you get into mid to high range it cuts out? Right?

Ya, That's pretty much it! Depending on where the air screw is set It won't even idle more that 10-15 seconds without shutting down.

Thanks

I have 2 sunl 250's I am having problems with both of them. They are hard to start. I have had the carbs apart several times. Just got a new carb (brand new). it was not much better. I finally got it to start with the new carb. But it would die if i gave it gas. it would die even at idle. after about 8 time it would stay idling log enough to worm up. after it wormed up it seamed ok and quit smoking. I put one of my other carbs back on and it is about the same the same. took several trys to keep it running when it was cold. it seamed ok when it was wormed up. It was smoking bad when it first started. I am not sure if it is getting too much gas or not enough at idle and it would not run until it wormed up. anyone else having problems like this. (fasttoys) what is a perf carb. and did it work better than the stock carb. The carb also has what looks like a electric choke but it does not seem to do anything.
