Durabilty of Chinese karts

Postby Islander » Fri Sep 22, 2006 5:48 am

All discussion on the performance of Chinese buggies seems to come from private owners who use their buggies over the weekend and look after them like silkworms, which is fair enough.
But does anyone have feedback on strengths/weaknesses of different brands of 250c.c. or 650c.c. units that are rented out and bashed around by tourists?
How do the Chinese buggies stand up to this sort of hard work?
Do they spend more time on the tracks/dunes or in the workshop?

depends on the company. stay away from sunl and other cheap {censored}

Blade, TJ powersports, Carter, Dazon, Kinroad, Kaesea, Joyner, are most of the major good brands.

Any more help needed, scroll through some old threads, and if you need even more, post back here again

Yes offroadkarter, what you say seems to reflect the general opinion of the blogs, but again, from reading through the GKRus posts, exclusively based on the experience of occasional users, or the reassuring comments of the sellers.

If you were buying an off road bike or 4x4, and you wanted to know how they stood up to rough treatment, you'd try to find some independant reviews of the vehicle in tough off road rallies, extensive on and off road use, written by reviewers who have really given the vehicle a hard time and a real test. How are they running after 10,000 miles, 50,000 miles etc.

Whilst I don't expect to find exactly this for buggies yet, some units are being sold for road use in Europe and parts of the US. Where are the comments from people who use their buggies every day to drive to work and then bash them on trails over the weekend - or doesn't this happen? Has anyone clocked up even 5,000 miles on a buggy? If so how is the unit handling it and how is that sort of wear and tear handled by the other karts we 'think' are good, as per your list.

Is there any reviewer doing rigorous and comparative tests of these buggies, perhaps in a magazine that I don't know?

I have a roketta 150. So far it has worked fairly well. there were minor design flaws that lead to rebuilding the engine ( water in engine) I ride this buggy hard, most of the time my foot is planted firmly inits &^%&^. Since I have drowned it, I upgraded to the large cylinder bore kit, carb, intake, and exhaust system. Every weekend it fires up and runs all day with no problems. The brakes need a little work, but thats the fun of owning a kart. IF you own a kart and have no mechanical skills, you will make a dealer very happy. Just check things out on a regular basis, bolts and such.

Do a u tube search for Runmaster or Kinroad 300 cc We have one in the shop we kinda run back and fourth to buildings here. Im very impressed with them. For the most part (Were a dealer for Kinroad) I have only gotten 1 or 2 back from customers. 1 was leaking oil. Well the inspection port came loose. I told them to double check nuts/bolt and they didnt. The other was someone wated to tinker with the engine and now its screwed up.I guess I'll give him the estimate for repairing those items as well. For the most part, you cant beat the price, and the quality is tons better than you might think. Like Offy stated watch certain brands.
